Here are this month's IMed events to look forward to!! 


5th Annual Raising Aspirations Conference 

Taking place Sunday, 7th December… an event where Islamic intention meets medical excellence.

This is the chance to meet Muslim healthcare professionals and learn from them. 


This will include: 

  • Discussions on Manners of a Doctor in Islam by Dr Rafaqat Rashid (GP, Islamic scholar, and Academic in Islamic Bioethics)

  • Surgery in Gaza by Dr M. Hawari.

  • Panel discussions with Q&A with the following panellists: 

    • Dr Qasim Malik- Paediatric Registrar and NIHR AI Fellow, formerly Executive Director of BIMA

    • Dr Aaliya Goyal - GP and Occupational Health Specialist serving on RCGP Council

    • Dr Ayo Khalil - Physician and community leader

    • Dr M. Hawari - Consultant Thoracic Surgeon and Service Lead

  • Workshop rotation including: 

    • Medical Ethics 

    • Getting Into Research 

    • Portfolio Building

Mock MMIs: Dentistry and Medicine 

Taking place on the 13th and 14th December, in collaboration with The Wisdom Centre, IMed Widening Participation presents to you FREE Mock interviews for year 13 students applying for medicine or dentistry.


The day will include:

  1. Interview tips talk

  2. MMI Interviews stations brought to you by current students

  3. Q&A session  

  

All attendees will receive a certificate as proof of attendance. 


Dates:

Saturday 13th December

Sunday 14th December 


Times: 

Morning cycle 9:45-12:30 

Afternoon cycle 13:30-16:30


Location:

The Wisdom Cultural Islamic Centre, Nechells, Birmingham B7 5QD


Dress code:

Smart casual (as if attending an actual university interview)
