As-Suffa: Homeless Community Project
وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَىٰ حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
they give food to the poor, the orphan, and the captive, though they love it themselves,
إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزَاءً وَلَا شُكُورًا
saying, ‘We feed you for the sake of God alone: We seek neither recompense nor thanks from you.

Provide an opportunity for University of Birmingham students to get involved in community work first-hand
To gain an understanding of homelessness in Birmingham and the complex nature of the problem
Provide a setting for brothers/ sisters to work together and foster stronger bonds of friendship working for the sake of Allah
What will this involve
4-5 student volunteers needed every Sunday!
Packing and distributing hot food packs
Conversing with the homeless and finding out their stories

What food is provided?
IMed and UBISOC are responsible for preparing and feeding our 80 guests on Sundays!
In every package contains a portion of chicken and chips, a variety of snacks and a bottle of water
Chicken and chips given at a discounted rate from Hi Tide, Kings Heath!
Monetary and physical donations are more than welcome to help run this programme (Contact us through Facebook or Instagram)

This project happens only through your time and donations.
What we give to our guests is determined by what food donations we receive.
Extra snacks and fruits are not normally available to our guests on a weekly basis - your food donations make a massive impact to their wellbeing.
